From Ethiopia we flew to Nariobi, Kenya. After one night's rest, we headed out early the next morning for the destination of our Kenyan safari. We went to a little airport and got on a little plane.
We sat behind this guy (aka our pilot) who kept turning around to tell us about
various landmarks we were flying over. Every time he turned around there
was more turbulence, but surprisingly the landings in these little planes
were remarkably smooth.
These were some of the "bird's-eye-view" sights of land & migrations.
We landed at what seemed like a random dirt strip in the middle of nowhere.
Then we split up into three vehicles, each with a driver
This is how we got around for the next 48 hours - to our lodge and out on safari
Here I am about to happily throw my iphone to the lions, just kidding :)
Here is where we stayed. The place was Japanese owned and incredibly nice
When you walk through the main entrance above and turn right, you walked down
some stairs to this main eating area
Where we all ate - three impressive (multi-course) meals a day
The food was really good
This was our room from the outside
and inside
We headed out on three different safaris - one morning, one afternoon, and one evening
We were a bit sleep deprived, but amazed at what we saw.
The pictures speak for themselves, so here you go!
zebras
cheetahs
elephants
hyenas
giraffs
hippos
lions
and other sights
the end :)
